How Do I Find Vacant Allotments or Other Ways To Expand My Operation?

An aerial view of pasture land with its boundaries clearly depicted.

When looking to expand your operation, finding vacant allotments is probably at the top of your “to-do” list. Here are two ways to find allotments quickly, so you can start grazing.

1. Call the US Forest Service or BLM Office to ask about vacant allotments in your area:

This will be the most accurate way to find available allotments, as the USFS or BLM will know if an allotment is open or if it is vacant due to other circumstances that would deem the land non-grazeable.

2. Contact your Redd Summit agent to find vacant allotments:

Your agent can use software to find vacant allotments all over the country. Unlike the USFS or BLM, your agent can only see if an allotment is vacant, not if it is actually usable.
